Jessica Ruiz holds a Bachelor of Arts in Modern Languages, Concentration in Spanish from Longwood University. She worked as a medical education coordinator for 14 years in Washington, DC and Charlotte, NC. During this experience, Jessica became inspired to pursue a new career as a mental health counselor. She furthered her education by attending Antioch University New England obtaining a Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling and graduated in May 2020. Jessica is a licensed clinical mental health counselor in North Carolina and a National Certified Counselor. Jessica has experience in community mental health and worked with the underserved in the Charlotte Metro Area for 3 years. Jessica is proud to be a Spanish-speaking counselor and feels that multicultural considerations are a part of the therapeutic process. Jessica utilizes Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Person-Centered Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy, Positive Psychology along with other therapies or techniques that are evidence-based in order to assist her clients in their mental health journey. Jessica’s interests include trauma, grief, LGBTQQIP2SAA and social justice advocacy. Jessica’s priority is to help people discover their true selves while expressing their deepest concerns in a safe place and meeting her clients at their level. Jessica enjoys spending time with her two fur babies, Arya and Sansa, board games, the beach or mountains, sporting events, and live performances in her spare time.
