Provider type: Nurse Practitioner
Janelle Mahoney is an ANCC board certified Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner who completed her Master of Science in Nursing degree at the University of South Alabama. She has been a registered nurse in North Carolina since 2012. Her background includes inpatient child and adolescent psychiatric nursing and cardiovascular-surgical intensive care. Her ICU nursing experience highlighted the gap between medical and psychiatric care and how the mind-body connection can be ignored in the patient’s overall and long-term health. This encouraged her to pursue a PMHNP role where she could establish a psychiatric nursing practice that integrates medical pharmacology with evidence-based psychotherapies and complementary lifestyle practices for her patients. Janelle’s clinical nursing experience has encompassed the lifespan, helping her make developmentally sound plans of care for patients of all ages. Janelle volunteers for the National Alliance for Mental Illness (NAMI) Helpline, is a grateful 25-year practitioner of Iyengar Yoga and loves discovering new hiking routes and playing music in her spare time.
