Chioma Rosanna Ekechukwu, MD is a psychiatrist with a total of 14 years active practice experience treating adult, child & adolescent, geriatric, forensic, and dual diagnoses patient populations. She has worked at federal, state, and private hospitals, crisis stabilization centers, treatment facilities, and outpatient community mental health clinics. She holds active physician licenses in the states of North Carolina, South Carolina, and Georgia; and has practiced in large metropolitan cities, towns, and rural areas, serving patients of diverse backgrounds. Dr. Ekechukwu strives to render personalized care through empathetic interview with active listening for a comprehensive assessment and delivery of individualized follow-up treatment and medication management. Dr. Ekechukwu is a graduate of the Medical College of Georgia in Augusta, GA and completed her internship and residency at Morehouse School of Medicine in Atlanta, GA. She is certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology; and is a member of the American Psychiatry Association and the North Carolina Psychiatric Association.
Dr. Ekechukwu previously earned a M.S. in microbiology from North Carolina State University and worked in immunology and microbiology research and as a quality control microbiologist. She has also been a high school biology, chemistry, and physical science teacher. Personal interests and hobbies include the visual arts, creative writing, beading, and sewing. She enjoys many movie genres, live theatre, and music and cultural festivals; and has a personal desire and goal to author and have published a fictional and/or non-fictional work of literature as well as a children’s book.
