"Catherine graduated with a Master’s Degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Wake Forest University. She is a “Double Deac” as she earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from Wake Forest University as well.
Catherine adheres to a humanistic and collaborative approach to counseling. She believes that everyone is unique, and capable of self-direction and growth. She believes that the clients are experts in their lives, and within the framework of a therapeutic relationship, can assess their inner resources and experience change.
She has experience working with children, adults, and families in a variety of settings. She is passionate about helping individuals who are experiencing anxiety, depression, post-traumatic stress, grief, and addiction. In her work with clients, Catherine employs strategies rooted in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, and Motivational Interviewing.
Catherine believes in the philosophy of “Ubuntu” – humanity to others. She is the founder of Soup Moms of South Africa, a non-profit organization that works to eliminate food insecurity in South Africa. In her free-time, She enjoys spending time with friends and family. She loves playing and watching sports (Go Panthers!). When the weather is nice, she enjoys hiking with her dog Levi. "
