Allison Poindexter is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker Associate in North Carolina who has been practicing since 2021. She has a Bachelors and Masters in Social Work from East Carolina University. Allison’s approach with children/families is dynamic and allows individuals to direct their own interventions. She utilizes creativity and her knowledge of child development to develop individualized, best practice interventions. She utilizes play therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, family systems and trauma informed practice to work with youth ages 6-18 years old. Her approach for children is multi-systemic to allow for best outcomes involving all stakeholders in the child’s life to help them reach their highest potential. Her areas of interest include anxiety, depression, trauma, ADHD, parenting skills, and family communication. Allison has worked as a school social worker for the last 4 years and has great knowledge of the school system, special education services, social skill development, parental support, and community resources. Allison works to provide an environment where vulnerability is recognized as courage for all individuals of all ages, races, ethnicities, gender identities, sexual orientations, faith traditions and disability statuses. Her personality is energizing and engaging to youth and families. In her free time, Allison enjoys spending time with her husband and their two dogs. She loves to cheer on her husband at all of his sporting events and getting outside. Her favorite vacation spot is Sunset Beach, NC and loves to travel!
